What's New for Teachers

The CareerSafe NexGen LMS launched on July 29, 2024. The next generation of the CareerSafe platform provides more robust tools for organization and student management. These features were designed with the teacher in mind, and were brought to life through the stories educators have shared on how CareerSafe helps their students thrive in work and life.

CareerSafe Summer 2024 Release

Our NexGen LMS features several exciting functionality changes to make managing students more flexible and efficient — and it’s mobile-friendly!
— New Product —
OSHA 10-Hour Training Library

While you can still purchase OSHA 10-Hour pathway-specific variants (Construction, Healthcare, Agriculture, Automotive, etc.), our new OSHA 10-Hour Training Library provides the flexibility to purchase the number of OSHA 10-Hour seats you need and choose a pathway at the time of enrollment. This means you don’t have to worry about exchanging seats later.

Note: If you had available seats in an OSHA 10-Hour course before the NexGen launch on July 29, 2024, those seats have been transferred to seats in the new OSHA 10-Hour Training Library product for you.

No More Seat Allocation

Seats are now associated with the organization or team that purchased them rather than with the individual purchaser. This means no more waiting for seats to be allocated to you! You’ll be able to see all available seats purchased within your organization by clicking Manage Seats from the Organization Detail Card on your Home page. Learn more about seats in our Seat and License Management support guide.

Note: Any vouchers that were generated before the NexGen launch on July 29, 2024, but not yet used have been added to the “Available Seats” count in your Seats Tab.

Organize Your Seats and Students

Your students can now be organized into groups based on whatever works best for your own structure (semesters, class periods, etc.). These groups allow you to set course behavior (like Assessment Locking and the STOP feature) for a subset of your students, organize your gradebooks, and determine where your students’ cards will be shipped when they complete an OSHA course.

Groups also enable you to give other instructors access to view your gradebook by adding them as additional admins to your group. Learn more about organizing your students in our Group Management support guide.

Enrollment and Group Codes

Group codes have replaced Teacher and Voucher Codes in NexGen.

Differences: Group codes are not tied to a single course and therefore can’t be directly used to enroll students. Instead, a group code allows users — both students and other admins — to request membership in your group. Once students are successfully added, you can enroll them in any courses available to that group.

This change gives you the ability to manage your students more intuitively and in a way that best matches your needs, without having to share codes for each course.

Similarities: When approving group code requests, you’ll be given the option to simultaneously approve and enroll the new members. Selecting this path will take you directly to the list of courses available for enrollment, so moving new members into seats is still one streamlined process.

You still have the power to approve or reject any request to join your group, and you can set a new group code at any time in the Group Settings.

Our Enrollment support guide provides step-by-step instructions for approving group members and enrolling students.

Gradebook

The CareerSafe Gradebook has been redesigned to include flexible view options and a more streamlined look and feel so you can quickly access the student information you need from either your desktop or a mobile device.

Our Instructor Tools and Resources support guide provides a detailed walk-through of all the Gradebook features, but we want to especially highlight the new Student Drawer, which provides quick access to information about a student’s course status, as well as actions like resetting course progress, requesting an OSHA Card reprint, and unlocking a student’s final assessment attempt.

Shipping Address

Cards are now shipped to the address assigned to the students’ group rather than a teacher’s individual shipping address. The group’s shipping address is prominently displayed on your Manage Group pages and can be easily updated from the Group Settings.
